Using Newer Top-Level-Domains with InMotion Hosting

If you were not aware, top-level-domains (TLDs) have recently increased by leaps and bounds. Where it used to be only .com, .org, .info, or .net, now there are a wide variety of domain TLDs. InMotion Hosting does provide the registration of domains, but since we are mainly a domain reseller, the options to register domains are limited. However, it does not mean that you are unable to use these TLD’s. You can still point these domains to InMotion Hosting to use them on your servers.

Examples of New TLDs

The new TLDs available for registration include a wide variety of names. I’m not going to be able to list them all, but here are some examples:

  • .app
  • .army
  • .associates
  • .band
  • .bike
  • .biz
  • .cafe
  • .camp
  • .care
  • .club
  • .community
  • .design

And these are just a few of them! So, it’s easy to now create a great domain name that provides a clear connection to the subject you’re trying to present on your website.

How to use the new TLDs on InMotion

You will notice that these TLDs are not available for registration with InMotion Hosting, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t register with a different domain registrar. Once you have registered your domain, the last thing you will need to do is change their nameservers to InMotion Hosting’s nameservers. For more information on how to do this, please see What is a Nameserver? You may also need to consult with your domain registrar’s support team or documentation on how to change the default nameserver.
